Gym-n-Learn is a fitness-based learning program that can help prevent childhood obesity
with nutritional information and a forty-five minute gymnastics class each session. Your child
will receive a well-rounded educational experience to help prepare them for school socially,
mentally, and physically.

Lessons will include beam, tumbling on specialized preschool gymnastic equipment, trampoline,
and exercising to music. e children will have fin with props to develop fitness aspects such as
hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and rhythmic patterns that will help reading readiness.

Lessons will include activities for instance that teach the children about “sometimes” food and “always”
foods. Also, the students will incorporate listening to stories, learning their address and phone number,
and cooperating in groups. Children will practice counting, identifying various body parts, and following
simple directions. All of these are part of a sample-screening test for kindergarten. One of our goals is to prepare them for the test to enter kindergarten in Illinois.

Gym-n-Learn educational preschool program will feature a different animal every month provided by Erin Yanz of Nature's Creatures Animal Show. Once a month Erin will bring a new animal and provide instruction on how to take care of the animal, information about their natural habitat and more. e animal will live at Jungle Gym for the month and children will take turns feeding a caring for the animal.

Bonnie May is earning her B.A. in Early Childhood Education at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, IL, completing her degree in December 2008. In addition, Bonnie completed her special education endorsement and looks forward to working with children with disabilities. She has worked with infants, toddlers, three years olds, and preschool age children. Bonnie volunteered at the Barbara Vick Early Childhood Center in Beverly during their 2007 Halloween food drive. She loves working with children and is a strong advocate for a positive life-long learning experience.

Kelly O’Donnell has been a part of the Jungle Gym for one year. Kelly earned her Associates Degree in General Education from Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL. She teaches the morning classes and is an excellent leader. Kelly works very well with children, keeping the children engaged through her personable teaching style.
